Beautiful plum schnapps made of plums, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and vodka. A drink perfekt for Autumn and Christmas with the nice taste of cinnamon.

Plum schnapps is made of neutral schnapps or vodka enhancing all the wonderful plum flavours.

It takes 3 to 4 weeks to make plum schnapps but already within 24 hours the schnapps has got a beautiful red colour, especially if the plums are really dark and purple. This drink is relatively sweet, so adjust the quantities of sugar if you like less sweet drinks.

The schnapps will keep for a year but the colour will fade in time.

Ingredients

600 g plums, halved and pitted
1 bottle of neutral schnapps or vodka (700 ml)
300 g caster sugar
1 vanilla pod
2 sticks of cinnamon

Instructions

Put the plums, sugar, cinnamon sticks and vanilla pod in a jar. Add schnapps or vodka and close with a lid.
Shake the jar once or twice a day for three to four weeks before drinking, then strain through a piece of muslin or cheesecloth into a bottle.
